Creativity and imagination are very important to me, and I hope they are to you as well. Not only is creativity good for the soul, it is also good for the mind. Creativity can come in many forms: storytelling, dancing, singing, playing an instrument, writing poetry, seeing how many ways you can hold your breath underwater, curiously changing your tempo while running up a hill, and so on. Creativity and imagination will literally change your mind and how you feel. Also, it doesn’t matter if anyone hears you sing, sees you dance, reads your poetry, knows that you are playing with your running stride, or imaging that you are winning a 5K.

Sharing your creation makes you vulnerable and takes no small amount of courage. So, if you do share your creativity with others, know they may not always have the same level of appreciation for your interest or ability as you do. That’s okay! If they criticize you and are negative, try not to take it to heart and maybe not share it with them again.

A few years back, I picked up a paintbrush. I figured if it turned out badly, I would throw it away and no one would be the wiser. To my shock, it was really good!!! I have called myself an accidental artist since that time; I had no idea this dwelt within me and consider it a gift from the Universe. I share this with you because I learned that if I cannot be good at being Sam, then I cannot be good at being Sam the mom, Sam the doctor, Sam the leader, Sam the professor, or any other Sam that is me.

So, without further ado, I share with you some of my art. If you love it, that makes me smile. If it is not your cup of tea, that’s okay. This is my jam, and it is my wish; if nothing else, it inspires you to find yours.
